Despite the evidence that being overweight can contribute or lead to various conditions like heart disease, diabetes, and high blood pressure, there are those who contend that a person can be “fat and fit.” Researchers say that it is possible for a person who is overweight to be healthy because of a healthy metabolism. They also found that a healthy person who happens to be obese still does not have a lot of fat in the abdomen but instead has much of their fat lose weight fast under the skin. Even if that is the case, however, it is still important for those who are overweight or at risk of becoming overweight to learn how to lose weight.

The biggest issue for people who are overweight but healthy is balancing exercise and diet to achieve the best results. This is because one study showed that six months of dieting alone caused some otherwise healthy people to become insulin resistant as they lost weight. Those who adopted a healthy diet and exercise program avoided this problem.
